Recycle and Reuse Baby Bank

The Baby Bank, established in 2023, provides essential items for families with children up to three years old. These include baby clothes, consumables such as nappies, and key equipment like bottles, baby baths, and bouncers. The Baby Bank is supported by a dedicated volunteer team made up primarily of young mothers, many of whom bring their babies and children with them. While sorting donations, they create a welcoming, informal environment where children can play and parents can connect. As a result, the Baby Bank functions not only as a distribution service but also as a peer support network, fostering community, reducing isolation, and enabling shared experiences among parents.

BDCR funding has provided valuable time and capacity to reflect on its work and impact. This has positioned the Baby Bank to pursue future funding opportunities and to develop a sustainable long-term strategy.

“The baby bank is a shining example of how a community can come together to share resources thoughtfully and sustainably. By giving pre-loved baby and children’s items a second life—everything from clothes, nappies, formula to prams—it reduces waste, supports families of all backgrounds, and fosters a spirit of connection. It’s proof that with a little organization and care, there’s no need to buy new. As first-time parents we are so grateful to the Baby Bank for getting this project off the ground. It’s been so helpful.”

“I wish we’d had one of these when my kids were growing up”
