This volunteer led scheme had been running since 2020, as a mutual aid response to the pressures of lockdown on isolated households.
In April 2025 the volunteers running the scheme decided to re-start weekly direct veg box provision. The £1,000 funding from BDCR, coming in June, helped give the project a boost and further longevity. The funding was used to provide weekly Solidarity Veg Boxes to 8 local households. This enabled the scheme to continue until September 2025 and keep supporting local people who struggle to access fresh fruit and vegetables.
